Scottish Games Awards Supporting Games For The Weans

  • Scottish Games Awards 2023 Partners With Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity
  • 15 x Award Categories Up For Grabs In Unique Opportunity To Support The Beneficial Impact Of Games

Scottish Games Week has partnered with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity to raise money for the Games For The Weans campaign.

The award-winning campaign is raising funds to buy adapted gaming equipment, consoles and video games for the boys and girls at Scotland’s biggest children’s hospital, as well as supporting the play team to make sure everyone always has someone to play with!

The Awards are offering businesses and organisations in Scotland the chance to sponsor one of the 15 x categories of trophy in this year’s competition, including the new Spirit of Scotland, Rising Star and – in a nod to Glasgow banter – the PURE QUALITY awards, which celebrate outstanding achievement and success in Scotland’s rapidly evolving games ecosystem.

Sponsors will have their branding associated with their chosen category and will be on stage to present the trophy to the lucky winner at the glittering awards ceremony, which takes place in PlatformGlasgow on Thursday, November 2nd and will be opened by Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf.

The charity drive follows on from the first ever Scottish Games Sale in September 2023, which pulled together over 70 games from developers across Scotland (and Scottish developers working internationally), which raised thousands of pounds for the charity.

“We are absolutely delighted to be supporting the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and the Games For The Weans campaign at this year’s Scottish Games Awards,” said Brian Baglow, the director of Scottish Games Week. “It’s an incredible organisation which supports children, young people and families across the whole of Scotland and the opportunity to use the awards to directly raise money for the charity is one we couldn’t pass up.

“One of the key goals for Scottish Games Week is to change the way people think about games – to champion the incredible work coming out of the studios, the teams, the colleges and universities and celebrate the incredible creative and technical talent we have here in Scotland.

“Games can change lives. Games can bring people together and games can make a huge difference to players who may be facing difficult or challenging times. This is an opportunity for businesses and organisations across Scotland to show their support for the charity and directly help children and families.”

Kirsten Watson, CEO, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “The Scottish gaming community has embraced our Games for the Weans campaign, and we’re honoured to be involved with Scottish Games Week. Many of our young patients spend weeks or even months in the hospital, receiving treatment for serious health conditions, including heart failure and cancer. The opportunity to play games can truly transform their hospital experience, shape lasting memories, and significantly improve their mental health. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved with Scottish Games Week for their generous support.”

Sponsorship opportunities for the awards are now open. To secure your spot, register interest, or if you have any questions, please contact the Scottish Games Week team directly: sgw@scottishgames.net.
