New Cohort of “Empowering…” Initiative Meet in Edinburgh for Start of Autumn Programme

The “Empowering Women to Lead Digital Transformation” initiative officially launches its Autumn cohort next week, with the newest members of the programme, designed to tackle gender diversity in digital leadership, meeting in person for the first time in Edinburgh.

The initiative, which started earlier this year and is delivered by leadership coaching consultants Empowering-You, with the support of industry body ScotlandIS, The Scottish Government’s Digital Directorate and the Scottish Digital Academy, aims to build a collaborative and powerful community of emerging women leaders in digital transformation roles across all industry sectors.

The 3-month Programme is free of charge to participants, with funding provided from industry partners including The Data Lab, Head Resourcing, Scott Logic and Sopra Steria. This latest cohort saw record levels of interest from applicants, resulting in a full capacity cohort of 24 aspirational digital leaders, including representatives from local and central government, the third sector, financial services, energy companies, health, consulting and a range of digital solution providers.

The group will gather in a central Edinburgh location for an intensive two-day group session over the 20th – 21st of September,  providing them with opportunity to meet their fellow participants and get to grips with the “Challenges” that have been identified for the cohort to tackle as part of the Programme.

The first day of the session will also include a presentation from guest speaker Mags Moore, Sopra Steria’s Director of Citizen and Devolved Government Services, who will be providing some first-hand perspectives on her own personal leadership journey.

Commenting on Sopra Steria’s support for the Programme, Ms Moore said, “Sopra Steria is thrilled to continue our support for ‘Empowering Women to Lead Digital Transformation’, and its work in nurturing women across the digital profession into confident, capable and motivated leaders.  This course helps support participants to find their own authentic style of leadership and creates enduring support networks, that we have already started to see take shape from the first cohort. We are proud to continue supporting initiatives that inspire us in our professional and personal lives, and help empower these leaders to make a real difference.”

The Autumn cohort is due to run from September to November, with a joint graduation and Challenge presentation scheduled for early December.
